Russian Roulette
Alistair is taken into a seedy warehouse where he plays Russian Roulette with Chet Craighten, who is impressed by the antiquarian’s blind faith and courage. After drinking and talking, Alistair concludes that Craighten isn’t involved with the cult.
A Familiar Voice
Lucy converses with Mad Hatter. He tells her about the imminent arrival of the King before disappearing into the darkness.
Dreams of Carcosa
While asleep, Beatrice dreams of wandering in Carcosa. She wakes up screaming.
The Gathering
Lucidia notices Fowler returning home at 02:00. Everyone else arrives at 04:00 and is mad at Alistair for not showing up on time. They have him continue the surveillance on his own.
Tuesday, February 9th, 1926 - Saturday, February 13th, 1926
Over the next few days, the investigators engage in the following activities:
- Lucy: Reads the English version of the King in Yellow and learns the ritual of Call and Dismiss Hastur. She starts hearing people around her talking like the protagonists of the play.
- Raymond: Watches Fowler’s house and realizes that there is a consistent pattern in the number of people entering and leaving. He also finds the Yellow Sign painted on the front door of his home.
- Alistair: Reads the French version of the King in Yellow. He realizes what is going to happen in New Orleans.
- Beatrice: Visits Avedon’s house and plants a letter badmouthing Alistair. She also steals books from the house and sells them to Alistair’s customers using the list his ledger.
The Shipwreck Bar, Sunday, February 14th, 1926
The investigators gather at midnight at the Shipwreck Bar. Billy the Barman serves drinks. There is no music playing. They are dressed in costumes:
- Lucy- > Crow
- Raymond -> Dressed in a dead man’s clothes
- Beatrice-> Orange Hippocampus
- Alistair -> Nosferatu
Lucy starts a conversation and lays down some options:
- Kill the summoners (Papa Screech, Randal Fowler)
- Stop all the festivities in the city.
- Destroy the stones required for the ritual.
They decide to head to Fowler’s Mansion.
Almost Abducted
Lucy returns home to grab a yellow garment. She encounters three men in her house that try to abduct her but she manages to escape them.
A Tragic Death
The investigators arrive at Fowler’s Mansion in the very early hours of the morning.
They encounter Fowler in the Shrine Room talking to his dead wife and daughter. Lucy manages to convince him that she is Grace. Raymond knocks him out, ties him up and carries him downstairs as Alistair notices three cultists arriving at the house.
Not wanting to be captured, Raymond shoots Fowler in the head and then they all escape into the night.
